Federated Geographic & Vertical Trade Nodes
Trade Gateways
The Node Plane for Federated Agentic Trade
Independently operated geographic and vertical trade ecosystems as machine-readable Nodes.
TradeGateways does not replace authoritative discovery or identity infrastructure.
AIEndpointsRegistry.com discovers authoritative endpoints; independent trust primitives establish identity, authority and authentication; Trade Gateways provide geographic and sector trade context; enterprise environments execute
Concept-Pure Role
TradeGateways.com is the federated Node framework.
Registry = Discovery
Primitives = Trust
Trade Gateways = Geographic & Vertical Nodes
TheSilkRoad.Trade = Federated Trade Graph
AI Agents = Interaction
IBM ADS / Enterprise Environments = Governed Execution
Transactions = Evidence
This separation allows independent operators, technologies and standards to interoperate without requiring one platform to own identity, discovery, routing, trust and execution.
Architecture
Function First. Operator Second.
| Component | Primary Question | Mandate |
|---|---|---|
| AIEndpointsRegistry.com | Where is the authoritative endpoint? | Federated authoritative endpoint discovery. |
| Identity / Authority Primitive | Who is acting, and with what authority? | Machine-verifiable identity, authority and participant status. |
| Product / Provenance Primitive | What is being traded, and what evidence supports it? | Product identity, provenance, authenticity and relevant evidence. |
| Authentication Primitive | What was authenticated or authorised? | Contracts, declarations, trade documents and transaction instructions. |
| TradeGateways.com | Where and within what commercial ecosystem does trade occur? | Geographic and vertical Node framework. |
| TheSilkRoad.Trade | How are Nodes connected and traversed? | Federated trade graph and routing topology. |
| Enterprise Execution Environment | What authorised workflow should be executed? | Governed Agent orchestration and execution. |
Horizontal Primitives
Nodes consume trust services; they do not need to own them.
Identity & Authority
Independent primitives such as Verified.Direct can establish organisation, Agent and operator identity and authority across multiple Nodes.
Product & Provenance
Product identifiers, provenance systems and evidence services can operate horizontally across geographic and vertical ecosystems.
Authentication & Settlement
Document authentication, transaction authority and settlement remain independent reusable capabilities rather than functions embedded inside every Node.
MLETR and other legal frameworks belong in the legal and standards environment. Technical document authentication and control mechanisms should remain distinct from the legal framework itself.
The Node Plane
Geographic Nodes + Vertical Nodes
A Trade Gateway Node is an independently operated, machine-readable representation of a geographic or sector trade ecosystem.
It can expose businesses, products, services, infrastructure, capabilities and authoritative endpoints relevant to that ecosystem.
Geographic Trade Gateways
Ports, cities, countries, logistics gateways and trade corridors.

Vertical Trade Gateways
Sector-specific commercial ecosystems.

Federated Trade Graph
TheSilkRoad.Trade connects the Nodes.
TheSilkRoad.Trade is the network topology, not the authoritative Registry and not the execution engine. It provides the federated graph through which AI Agents can traverse regional, port, corridor and vertical Nodes.
Ancient Silk Road → Modern Silk Road → Agentic Silk Road
IBM Auto Deal Share
Execution remains a separate plane.
Trade Gateways
- Provide geographic and vertical Node context
- Expose relevant canonical endpoints and capabilities
- Connect independently operated trade ecosystems
- Remain execution-platform neutral
IBM ADS / Enterprise Execution
- Agent orchestration
- Enterprise governance
- Lifecycle management
- Enterprise security
- Governed multi-Agent workflows
Within an IBM Auto Deal Share programme, Trade Gateways can provide the federated external Node environment consumed by enterprise Agents, while IBM ADS provides governed execution. The architecture itself remains capable of integration with other enterprise execution environments.
End-to-End Flow
From requirement to transaction evidence.
Agent Request → Endpoint Discovery → Node Context → Identity & Authority → Product / Provenance → Authentication → Governed Execution → Settlement / Physical Trade → Evidence
Digital Trade Readiness Laboratories
Nodes can become practical test environments.
A geographic, port, corridor or vertical Node can operate as a Digital Trade Readiness Laboratory in which independently operated standards, endpoints, primitives, AI Agents and execution environments demonstrate interoperability in practice.
The purpose is not to create another digital-trade standard. The purpose is to provide an implementation environment in which existing and emerging standards can be exercised across real or simulated trade scenarios.
Standards → Implementation → Interoperability → Trust → Transaction → Evidence
Operator Opportunity
Independent Operators. Common Interoperability.
Geographic Node Operator
Operate a city, country, port, logistics gateway or trade-corridor Node.
Vertical Node Operator
Operate a specialist industry or commercial ecosystem Node.
Primitive / Execution Partner
Provide an interoperable trust, transaction or enterprise execution capability consumed by the Nodes.
Function → Primitive / Node → Operator. Prospective operators should be presented separately from the architecture so that no proposed participation, endorsement or stewardship is implied until confirmed.
Port & Logistics Nodes
Port and logistics Nodes provide geographic trade context for Agentic commerce.
Port Nodes represent machine-readable trade ecosystems associated with major ports and logistics gateways. Their authoritative endpoints can be discovered through AIEndpointsRegistry.com. Illustrative Nodes include:
Vertical Trade Nodes
Vertical Trade Nodes organise sector-specific ecosystems for Agentic commerce
Vertical Nodes represent defined commercial sectors and expose authoritative endpoints and capabilities relevant to those sectors. Discovery is provided through AIEndpointsRegistry.com.
Geographic Trade Nodes
GEOGRAPHIC TRADE NODES
Geographic Nodes represent regional trade ecosystems and provide location-specific commercial context. Their authoritative endpoints are discoverable through AIEndpointsRegistry.com. Illustrative Nodes include those below.

Strategic End-State
A federated topology for Agentic Trade.
Discover → Identify → Verify → Traverse → Authenticate → Execute → Transact → Evidence
The Registry discovers. Primitives establish trust. Trade Gateways organise trade ecosystems. TheSilkRoad.Trade connects the Nodes. AI Agents interact. Enterprise systems execute. Transactions produce evidence.
